    Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) president Datuk Aishah Ahmad said that the automotive sector will improve based on the government's GDP projection and car sales in the first-half of 2021 will likely be stronger due to the extension of sales tax exemption for new vehicles.
    Maybank IB Research which retains its “positive” stance on the automotive sector expects 2021’s TIV to drive closer to 600,000 units (average 50,000 units/ month) in 2021 which represent a 8% growth, fuelled by the SST effect and new launches.  
    Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) remains the key growth volume driver in line with the Government’s National Automotive Policy (NAP). In the meantime, major brands are moving towards launching more hybrid and EV models as the global market transition from ICE vehicles.
